Whew! I've been dying to share this shoot for the longest time but it's been a whirlwind summer of adventures across the island to capture people's stories & now things are settling down for autumn in all its misty & moody glory. Back in July, Jon (one of my second shooters, film photographer extraordinaire & my partner in more than just crimes) & I made the twelve hour journey northwards to meet Esther & Dean in Scotland to witness & capture their incredible elopement at Glen Coe.
This was the first elopement that we had done and we were both super excited. We knew it was gonna be great; firstly because we couldn't wait to explore the incredible highlands, secondly because we LOVE photographing people outdoors in great locations but mostly because we had met up with Esther & Dean the day before at Edinburgh's botanical gardens and knew that they were gonna be so much fun to hang out with. They had is in belly laughs all day and were bundles of fun and it was clear that these two were absolutely meant for each other.

Everything about their day was so much fun. I loved Esther's style - her two piece wedding outfit with its swirling skirt & flower garland was perfect for the highland setting; Esther rocking the celtic princess vibe and looking utterly at home amongst the mountains.
Their ceremony was heartfelt & touching with shared tears and the sounds of the nearby waterfalls and rushing river providing the most incredible & memorable setting to share their most important vows with each other. I don't think I've ever photographed a ceremony in quite a setting!
After the ceremony, the groom realised that keys had been locked in the car and we shared an eventful twenty minutes fashioning door opening devices from clutter in my boot & eventually, Dean & Jon managed to get into the car and the day was saved (after much giggling & celebration). It was certainly a memorable event!

After the ceremony & the adventure with the car, we visited some of Esther & Dean's favourite spots around Glen Coe creating a mix of romantic stills & candid captures. It was a lot of fun and thankfully, the infamous highland rain held off!

Well hats off to Esther who hiked up a great mountain while pregnant & didn't complain once! She put us all to shame. Tummies had begun to rumble and these two were heading off for an intimate dinner together to celebrate & we had a 3 hour drive back to Edinburgh via the incredible sights of all the lochs along the way. This shoot was by far one of my favourite memories of this summer & we were so excited and humbled to have been invited up to capture their ceremony. There was such romance, fun, silliness, adventure & heartfelt emotion on this incredible day and we are so happy that they shared it with us. I've decided that elopements are amazing & I hope to capture many more some day and adventure to more incredible places but most of all, I wish these two the most amazing memories & marriage journey.
